Once the mountain of autumnal paperwork has been shoveled away, I am struck just how wonderful it is to see dozens of brightly clad middle-schoolers romping around in the snow. Whether nervously strapping on a snowboard for the first time or figuring out how to walk in snowshoes, it does my heart good to see kids outdoors in the winter. Naturally we all spend more time indoors in the winter. I hope that by encouraging winter sports, we give the kids a healthy love of the wintry months and the cold and snow that come with them. Pray for snow!
