Students Launch Santa Fe Prom Closet

Prom Closet

Several Prep students are fulfilling their community service requirement this year by launching the Santa Fe Prom Closet.  Working under the direction of Prep’s prom coordinator and physical education department chair, Rennae Ross, the students are working to provide new or gently used formal attire to deserving, but perhaps financially strapped, Santa Fe area high school students.

Donations of dresses, suits, shoes, jewelry and purses are being actively solicited by the students.  Once they have enough inventory on hand, the students will begin contacting area high schools, churches, synagogues, etc., to solicit the names of girls and boys in good academic standing who might not otherwise be able to afford to attend their proms.  The hope is to eventually be able to hold a “boutique day” and invite girls and boys recommended by teachers, counselors, priests or rabbis to come choose a dress or suit, shoes and accessories.  Gift certifications from local salons and restaurants are also planned.

If you have items or services to donate, please contact Rennae Ross by .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or by phone at 795-7522.
