Prep biology teacher Diane Catron and senior Brian Lewis were honored last week by the Santa Fe Institute (SFI) and the Santa Fe Alliance for Science during the annual Price for Excellence awards ceremony.

Catron received the Prize for Outstanding Teacher, awarded to a single Santa Fe area high school teacher who demonstrates special achievement in advancing science education.  Lewis was the Prep recipient of the Prize for Scientific Excellence, awarded to one graduating senior from each of the Santa Fe high schools for academic excellence, originality and creativity in the sciences, mathematics or computer science.

The awards were established by SFI to recognize those members of the local high schools who best embody the spirit of scientific pursuit found at the Institute.  Since 2008, the Santa Fe Alliance for Science has been a co-sponsor of the prizes.
