New At Prep: Shakespeare Club

Santa Fe Prep’s Shakespeare Club will perform in the second annual Youth Shakespeare Festival, December 9, 2017, at 3:50 pm at the New Mexico School for the Arts. Ninth grade students Margaret Tambke, Thomas Tambke, Eli Witsenhausen, Emma Tsosie, Revely Rothschild, and Julian Gallini-Ivry will perform a scene of wit, comedy and sword play from William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night!

Though our Prep students perform in the afternoon, the fun gets started at 10:00 am with six other local schools including Santa Fe High, Capitol High, Santa Fe Indian School, Academy of Technology and Classics, Monte del Sol Charter School, New Mexico School for the Arts and the Upstart Crows (Santa Fe’s only youth Shakespeare troupe). It is a full day of Shakespearian monologues and scenes. But wait, there’s more! The night before the festival, our Prep students will have a master acting class with Edward Daranyi, Associate Director of Education at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario. And finally, during the festival, London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts-trained Ariana Karp and Prep’s own fencing coach and certified stage fight director Ambrose Ferber ’93 perform a pivotal fight scene with broadswords from Henry IV, Part I.

So please come on out and support our Shakespeare Club and Shakespeare education at the Youth Shakespeare Festival sponsored by the International Shakespeare Center of Santa Fe!
