Little Shop of Horrors On Stage This Weekend

Little Shop

The sets are nearing completion, tech cues are set, and a little polish is all that’s needed on production numbers as opening night approaches for the Performing Arts Department’s production of Little Shop of Horrors.  The opening performance is Friday, February 27th at 7:30 pm, with additional performances on Saturday, February 28th at 7:30 pm and Sunday, March 1st at 2 pm.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors.  Tickets will be sold in advance from Monday, February 23rd through Friday, February 27th from 2:30 – 3:30 pm just outside the Main School building.  Unsold tickets will be available at the door beginning 45 minutes prior to each performance.

Charming, funny and with tongue definitely planted in cheek, Little Shop of Horrors is one of the longest-running off-Broadway shows of all time.  An affectionate spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies, it tells the story of a down-and-out skid row floral assistant who discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood.  Soon the plant, Audrey II, grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore who finally reveals herself to be an alien creature poised for global domination.
