Since 1979 students, faculty, and staff have been inspired by Jan’s grace, wisdom, and leadership of the library and financial aid services. She has mentored more than a thousand students since then, whose first stop, when they return to campus after graduation, is to find her and reconnect. In addition to the immeasurable amount of time she gives, what is less known about Jan and her husband Rick is how they have given every year (they were asked!) to Santa Fe Prep’s annual Sustaining Fund. When commenting on why, Jan replied, “We give to the Prep Annual Fund to show our support, our appreciation, and to recognize the faith and trust we have in the school. We are grateful for the education and experience our sons, Derek ’00 and Kyle ’06, received. For us, the contribution also signals a ‘thumbs up’ in acknowledging Prep’s growth and direction. It feels good to make a statement with our resources that reflects the value and respect we have for Prep.”
