Prep’s class of 2011 officially became alumni last week during a morning ceremony steeped in tradition on the Upper School quad. Student speakers included co-valedictorians Emma Selby and Victoria Spencer and senior class member Clay Wilwol. Parent and noted author Hampton Sides provided the keynote address.
All 48 members of the class are headed to college, with roughly half going east and half going west. Their college choices range from Bucknell to Harvard to Occidental to Wesleyan to the University of Denver. Nearly 80% of our seniors who applied to a college or university ranked “most competitive” by Barron’s were accepted to one, and approximately 60% of the class received merit and/or need-based awards from their colleges of choice. In the words of T.S. Eliot, “Not farewell, but fare forward, voyagers.”
