On Friday November 30th, students of Lisa Sheppard’s 7th Grade New Mexico History classes made dream catchers with Prep parent Francine Maesta’s and education specialist Helen Trujillo from Pojoaque Pueblo. Using willow that was gathered at the river that morning, the students crafted the project with sinew beads and special feathers. The classes learned about the traditional way to make the dream catchers along with hearing the reasons for having them. This was a special treat for the classes and everyone went home with a wonderful experience. Another recent visitor from Pojoaque Pueblo, Prep parent Gabriel Montoya, talked to all of the classes about Pueblo government and social structure. He presented a fabulous power point that truly engaged the students.
