Culturally Aware and Responsive Citizen Popup

As much as you may learn from other people or learn from experiences, what really matters is how you reflect and respond to that knowledge and take action to make change.

RUBY BIXBY Class of 2022

While it is helpful to learn foundational skills in a classroom, I think navigating uncertainty or confusion in the real world and doing things you haven't done before are the situations that really allow you to grow and figure out what you're actually interested in. When I was in my younger years at Prep, I was interested in being a heart surgeon, but as I got more experience working with students, speaking Spanish, and even learning more about immigration through the stories of people I was meeting, I found an interest in immigrant rights advocacy work and ESL education. Those interests have now perfectly combined at my non-profit job and in my academic journey towards a B.A. in Public Policy.
