Oberlin College – Soccer

How did Prep prepare you to play at the collegiate level?
At Prep I had the opportunity to play for a successful soccer program, but also had players around me who were talented and pushed me to become better. The camaraderie and coaches who cared about each individual help a player feel comfortable and eager to practice and work on your game each day.

How do you juggle your classes and your practice/game schedule?
Juggling school and a practice/game schedule definitely can cause problems. However, I find that scheduling out each of my weeks and consistently staying engaged with professors in and out of class pay dividends when you inevitably have to miss some class. Besides these different techniques to help manage academics and athletics, hard work is the largest factor when it comes to success in the two.

What is your favorite memory from your Prep athletic career?
Beating the four-time defending state champions in the state championship my senior year. It was crazy.

What advice would you give to current Prep athletes who want to play in college?
That it’s possible for people of all skill levels. College sports may seem daunting, but regardless of the sport, one can usually find a way to play if they only find the right college or university. With a Prep education behind you to help, that is very viable.

What would you say were your greatest athletic and academic accomplishments during your time at Prep? At college?
My greatest academic achievement while at Prep was being accepted to Oberlin College, while my greatest athletic accomplishment was being able to participate in soccer, basketball and track. At college, my greatest athletic accomplishment so far took place my sophomore year when Oberlin had its most successful soccer season in history.
