Sixty-seven seniors dove into the the college application process for three days last week, fine-tuning college essays, starting the Common Application, and brushing up their interview skills while the rest of the upper school was camping. Seniors bonded over their shared plight of the challenges of this process and left on Friday afternoon with applications well underway.
We started off the three days addressing the impact of stress on their decision making with consultant and Boys’ Head Soccer Coach, Hersch Wilson. Learning to handle the unknowns of the college admissions process is tough on students and parents. Stress is not to be avoided but managed with perspective and within a problem solving framework. We had some good laughs and left the session armed with Hersch’s secret word. Ask a senior!
