Lacrosse Matriarch Story Leonard Names Successor

Story Leonard, who has coached Girls Lacrosse since 2001, retires as Girls Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Santa Fe Prep after bringing home a fourth consecutive state championship. Coach Leonard started the program from scratch a decade ago and built the program into a dominant force in the Southwest. Leonard was instrumental in getting Lacrosse recognized on a state-wide level and worked with the New Mexico Activities Association to get Lacrosse listed as an official activity under their sports purview. We have been blessed to have a coach with her devotion to the girls, passion for the sport, and nurturing demeanor. The next chapter in the program at Santa Fe Prep will be under the direction of Leonard’s assistant, Sally Blakemore. Sally is a recent grad from Virginia Commonwealth University who brings with her prior coaching experience from the Collegiate School in Richmond, Virginia. Coach Blakemore is a young, energetic, inspiring personality, who has great potential and has earned the respect of the team in her first year with the program. We are fortunate to have somebody willing to carry on the Leonard legacy. Welcome, Coach Blakemore!
