Tuition Assistance

A Prep education is an investment in your child’s future, and we are committed to making such an education possible to all qualified students.  This year, nearly 30% of our families received some form of assistance from the more than $782,000 allocated to financial aid, with an average grant amount of $8,500.

Awards are based on demonstrated economic need and the availability of funds.  Students are first accepted to the School on the basis of character, grades, teacher recommendations, special talents, and potential for personal growth, regardless of ability to pay.  Students are then considered for financial aid through a separate process.

While Santa Fe Prep does its best to meet need to the degree possible, we believe the primary responsibility for financing a student’s independent school education rests with the family.  All families are therefore expected to contribute at least a portion of their child’s educational expenses.

Included in the following pages are step-by-step instructions for applying for tuition assistance, information on payment options for the expected family contribution, guidelines, and answers to frequently asked questions.

Instrucciones en español y una muestra del proceso del Estado Financiero de Padres de Familia están disponibles en a Oficina de Matriculación. Para obtener estas instrucciones, favor de llamar a Michael Multari, Director de Matriculción, al (505) 795-7512.

Malone Family Foundation Scholarship Program

Santa Fe Prep was just awarded a $2 million endowment grant from the Malone Family Foundation for tuition assistance for gifted students. Prep joins 48 other schools nationally who have received this honor and is the only school in New Mexico to be a Malone partner. With this endowment, Santa Fe Prep seeks exceptionally gifted students with the motivation to excel in Prep’s highly academic environment.

Qualifications to be considered for a Malone Scholarship include:

1. Students must be new applicants going into the 7th-9th grades.

2. Students must be in the top five percent, academically, of their grade.

3. Students must demonstrate giftedness and a motivation and desire to learn.

4. Students must need financial assistance of at least 30% or more of tuition.

If your child qualifies for a Malone Scholarship and you are interested in applying to Santa Fe Prep, contact Head of School Jim Leonard at 505.795.7514 for more information. Please keep in mind this is a highly competitive process and Prep can only award 1-2 scholarships this year.
