Prep’s College Counseling department is hosting a special information night, “How to Pay for College: Navigating the College Financial Aid Process,” on Tuesday, May 5th at 7:00 pm in the Auditorium.  The session is open to all Prep parents and students.

Michael Rodriguez, director of financial aid at St. John’s College, and Cathy Rocke, a financial advisor with Wachovia Securities, will be on hand to provide information on the types of financial aid available and how to best position yourself financially for the process.

Prep’s Middle School Musical Theater class will present “Once Upon a Mattress” on May 15th at 7:30 pm and on May 16th at 2 pm in Driscoll Auditorium.  Tickets are $3 and will be available at the door prior to each performance.

The musical comedy is based on the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale, “The Princess and the Pea,” and first opened on Broadway in the late 1950s.  The production marked the stage debut of Carol Burnett and both the musical and Burnett were nominated for Tony Awards.  A Broadway revival starring Sarah Jessica Parker opened in 1996 and ran for 188 performances.  The production was nominated for the 1997 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. 

Whether a “frontier rendezvous” at the home of author and Prep parent Hampton Sides, or a “summer’s last salsa” evening of dinner and dancing at the home of Prep parents Mark and Martha Alexander, the Best Parties have been some of the most sought-after items up for grabs at Prep’s annual gala.

Historically, sign up for these parties has only been available at the gala itself. This year, to be sure everyone has an opportunity to join the fun, whether or not they are able to attend the gala, we are offering early sign-up via email.  A complete list of the Best Parties being offered, including sign-up contact information, is available in the Parents section of the website.  See you there!

Judging by the number of donated “treasures” filling the gym, there is sure to be something for everyone at this year’s annual rummage sale.

Some of the best finds each year are discovered at the preview evening.  The doors open for this year’s preview on Friday, April 17th at 7 pm.  Tickets are $10 each and available at the door.  The ticket price includes light refreshments while you shop.  On Saturday, the rummage sale is open to the public from 8 am to 2 pm.  Swing by and find a treasure or three!  All proceeds benefit the activities of the Parents’ Association, including tuition assistance.

The Prep Parents’ Association is actively seeking donations for its annual rummage sale fundraiser, scheduled this year for Saturday, April 18th from 8 am to 2 pm.  Any unwanted art, sporting goods, electronics, furniture, books, toys or designer clothes are welcome items.

Drop off days are Saturday, April 11th from 9 am to noon, and Wednesday, April 15th through Friday, April 17th from 8 am to 3 pm.  Donations can be taken to the lower level of the Commons building.  If you have a large item that needs to be picked up, contact rummage sale organizer, Chris Jaeger, at 920-6756 or her.
