Members of Prep’s Art and Society class will unveil uniquely crafted sneakers and the accompanying shoe boxes at “The Shoe Show,” a one-of-a-kind sneaker exhibition opening November 7th at Warehouse 21’s second-floor gallery space, and continuing through November 16th.

Students have spent weeks custom-designing blank sneakers provided by Tagur Footwear.  The project is a major component of the semester-long class, which provides students with the ability to effectively communicate about both historical and contemporary issues in the visual arts, and helps students gain a basic understanding of art and artists in social contexts.

Digital Lab

Prep’s digital arts lab got a makeover this summer that turned it into a state-of-the-art facility offering industry-standard applications for graphics, video, photography and editing. Housed in the historic Meem building, the lab boasts 14 new iMac computers installed with all the latest software.

According to digital media instructor, Jesse Myers, the digital arts are a dynamic part of the school’s arts offerings and the new platform provides students with the most opportunities for a 21st-century multi-media classroom.

Current digital course offerings range from middle school digital photo to advanced digital applications.  Jan Adesso, librarian and course scheduler, says that digital classes are among the most popular electives at Prep.
