Rummage Items Needed
Monday, March 17, 2008
Santa Fe Prep’s annual rummage sale takes place this year on Saturday, April 19th, from 8 am to 2 pm, and rummage items are still needed. If you have unwanted art, sporting goods, electronics, furniture, books, toys or designer clothes, event organizers Chris Jaeger and Bob Fippinger ask that you drop them off at Prep’s gym on Saturday, April 12th from 10 am to noon, or Wednesday April 16th through Friday, April 18th from 8 am to 3 pm. Pick up of large items can be arranged.
The shopping extravaganza begins with a special preview sale and reception for members of the Prep community on Friday, April 18th from 7 to 9 pm. Hors d’oeuvres and champagne will be served, and you have a chance to snag the best bargains of the weekend. Tickets are $10 per person at the door, and the event is for adults only.
On Saturday, the rummage sale goes public beginning at 8 am. Questions? Contact Chris Jaeger at 982-7775 or by Get there early--you know everyone else will.

Think Bond, as in James Bond. Think shaken, not stirred. Think stunning evening gowns and elegant tuxedos. Think Santa Fe Prep’s annual gala!
Rhinestones are Forever—A License to Bid, the School’s most exciting event of the year and its largest fundraiser, gets underway on Saturday, March 15th at 6:30 pm in the Pavilion at the Eldorado Hotel. The theme is “Bond” all the way and tickets are still available by calling Andrea Gonzales at 795-7531. Attire can be full-on Bond glamor or Austin Powers retro and anything in between.
One of the most anticipated events of the evening is a “Diamond Dip” drawing for a premier Gem Institute-certified 1.1 carat diamond worth $10,000. Raffle tickets are $100 each, and only 100 tickets will be sold.
Also on tap for the evening are a fabulous dinner, live entertainment, and live and silent auctions featuring items from vacation stays in exotic places to jewelry to fine art and dining packages.
All proceeds from the event benefit Prep’s tuition assistance program and Breakthrough Santa Fe.
Education for Sustainability In-Service
Monday, March 03, 2008
Faculty and staff recently participated in a provocative and energizing in-service on sustainability initiatives in independent schools, led by Wynn Calder, Associate Director of University Leaders for a Sustainable Future. Calder defined sustainability as “improving the environment, communities and the economy in mutually supportive ways,” and identified schools as one of the major agents of change in the coming years.
During the morning session, Calder provided a look at the global environmental challenges facing all of us, and then shared numerous examples from independent schools across the country that are making great strides in sustainability education. According to Calder, a school that educates for sustainability will be interdisciplinary, holistic, and values driven; it will focus on problem solving and critical thinking; and the curriculum will be locally and globally relevant.
