More than 400 people from all over Santa Fe (and quite a few from beyond!) filled the Santa Fe Community Convention Center on Friday, April 29 to celebrate the time and talents of six dance couples who had worked their tails off to provide an unforgettable performance to benefit Breakthrough and tuition assistance at Prep. Presided over by our amazing Brad Fairbanks as Emcee, the evening was an unprecedented success: Mayor Javier Gonzales gave a poignant speech about the state of education in New Mexico and the need for tuition assistance and Breakthrough; four performing art celebrities served as judges (thank you to Maria Benitez, Bob Martin, Leigh Moiola, and Rulan Tangen); six talented dance teams gave mesmerizing performances; and the evening capped off with a shake-it-‘til-you-drop dance party launched on stage by Jim and Story Leonard. Santa Fe was abuzz the next morning with recaps of “The Party!”
Congratulations to Kelly Stranahan and Mike Garcia for winning the Judges Award, Janine Feng and Dave Duncklee for winning the Midas Award, and Allie Cooper and Darrin Visarraga for winning the Popular Vote!
