You do not have access to GroupWise from home (or anywhere outside the Prep network) simply by default. You must grant yourself the right to use GroupWise from a web browser. If you already use GroupWise over the Web, you need not go through this process unless you need to change your GroupWise WebAccess password (to make the GroupWise WebAccess password the same as your school login, for example).
NOTE for AOL users: Folks who use AOL to access GroupWise will be unable to reliably login using the AOL web browser. You can still connect using AOL, but you must use another web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, or Firefox.
Granting yourself access is a simple matter, and must be done here at school from the GroupWise client software. Open Groupwise, and go to the Tools menu:
Select Options.
Then double-click Security.
You will see one of the two following dialog boxes:
![]() |
![]() |
| You will see this box if you have never entered a GroupWise Remote password for yourself | You will see this box if you have already entered a GroupWise Remote password for yourself. If you have, it would be one of your old passwords. If you cannot remember that password, see Mr. Hicken or Mr. Taylor, and they will clear your old password so that you will see the preceeding dialog box the next time you go in to set your GW Remote password. |
Type in your password twice, and be sure to check the checkbox below.

This GroupWise Remote password is not synchronized with your Prep network
login password. If you change one, you must change the other independently.
